The dance troupe is also sponsoring a program this summer entitled "At Home with Cambodian Culture." Details are below.

----------------------------------------------------------

AT HOME WITH CAMBODIAN CULTURE

Spend the steamy months of August learning about the food, culture, and customs of this beautiful Southeast Asian country. After sampling the tastes, smells, sights and sounds of Cambodian dishes, holidays and “at-home” customs, you’ll feel like you’ve traveled 10,000 miles and seen the wonders of the world.

These workshops are also a great way for families to spend time together during the summer, learning skills that you can share.

Chef/owner Sophy Suon of Modern Catering brings her in-depth knowledge of Cambodian ingredients, cooking, culture and customs to you, through workshops that you can take a la carte, or as a prix-fixe menu. Workshops will take place in Lowell, location TBA.

Sunday, August 3rd, 2:00-4:00pm Cambodian Cuisine 101
What are those fragrant lumpy fruits anyway? What does the laos root look like? What’s the difference between all those kinds of basil? Learn about the essential ingredients of Cambodian cooking, and walk away with 3 recipies and the firsthand experience of making classic dishes including an appetizer, a soup and a main course.

Sunday, August 10th, 2:00-4:00pm Barbecue Cambodian Style
Tired of the same old hotdogs, burgers and drumsticks on the grill? Spice things up by learning about the rich history of outdoor cooking in Cambodia. Add lemongrass, coconut, and scallions to your repertoire, and your chicken and shrimp skewers will make family and friends smile this summer.

Sunday, August 17th, 2:00-4:00pm Foods for Celebration
How are the big Cambodian holidays celebrated at home? What foods does every Cambodian child associate with family and holidays? What is in the traditional fondue that brings the family together around the cooking pot for special occasions?
Each session features an introduction to cultural roots, to ingredients and cooking and to the rich history that gave rise to Cambodian customs and cuisine. What better way to enjoy the summer with friends and family, learning about the beautiful aspects of Cambodian culture?

Workshop Fees are: $20/adult per workshop, $15 per child per workshop or $35 per family

Registration for all three workshops is $50/person or $95/family – a savings of $15. Early registration (by July 31st) qualifies you to win a one-on-one cooking lesson or a catered meal at your home, with Chef Sophy Suon of Modern Catering. Drawing on Sunday, August 3rd.

Space is Limited! Register by calling (978) 275-1823 or by sending an email to: lydiabreckon@yahoo.com.
